From singing in church choirs to catching the world's ear, Ikuforiji Olaitan Abdulrahman, better known as Oxlade, built his rise on raw talent and persistence. After losing his mother young, he grew up under the care of his father, a university lecturer, and his grandmother. With support from Funmi Iyanda’s Change-A-Life Foundation, he enrolled in History and International Relations at Lagos State University but left after two years to chase music full time. He cut his first demo as a child and earned industry attention in 2018 with his standout feature on Blaqbonez’s “Mamiwota,” which opened doors to management with The Plug and a deal with Troniq Music. His 2020 EP 'Oxygene' produced the breakout single “Away,” followed by his 2024 debut album Oxlade From Africa. With “Ku Lo Sa” and a string of global accolades, Oxlade has moved from Lagos’s local stages to an artist with unmistakable worldwide reach.
