Peterson T. MutebiUganda |1950| SwahiliPeterson Tusubira Mutebi was a renowned Ugandan artist who pioneered the unique musical genre "kadonkam."
He started his musical journey at a young age, reinterpreting songs by notable musicians.
Engaging actively in school choirs, he eventually led one and went on to form musical groups such as The Blue Regions and later The Squares.
During the '70s and '80s, he and The Tames band dominated Uganda's pop music scene.
Despite the challenges of the era, his recordings sold well, earning him the endearing nickname "Amata Agatafa".
Notably, Mutebi was among Uganda's early producers of music on LP discs, and he remained optimistic about the future of Ugandan music despite the homeland's instability.
Sadly, Peterson T. Mutebi passed away in 1992, leaving behind a legacy.
