Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike, known as Phyno, is a Nigerian rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer from Enugu State. Of Anambra origin, he was raised in Enugu and began his career as a music producer before gaining recognition as an artist. He became known for delivering rap in Igbo, English and Nigerian Pidgin, helping bring indigenous-language hip-hop to a wider audience.
Phyno's breakthrough came with songs such as “Man of the Year (Obago)” and “Ghost Mode,” followed by his debut album, No Guts No Glory, in 2014. He later released The Playmaker, and Something to Live For, establishing himself across rap, Afrobeats and highlife. His 2024 album, Full Time Job, featured artists including Burna Boy, Flavour, Fave and Johnny Drille. Beyond music, Phyno is the founder of Penthauze Music and has supported emerging Nigerian artists through the label. His career remains closely connected to Igbo culture and Nigerian contemporary music.
