    Omoba Segun Adewale is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, bandleader, and pioneer of Yo-pop, a blend of funk, jazz, juju, reggae, and Afro-beat. Sometimes called the "Crown Prince of Juju," Segun Adewale ventured into music against his father's wishes, moving to Lagos and learning from Juju greats like S.L. Atolagbe and I.K. Dairo. Collaborating with Shina Peters, he co-founded Shina Adewale and the Superstars International, showcasing his innovative juju style. His fusion of Western influences, like rock and funk, resulted in Yo-pop's fast-paced, electric guitar-driven sound. Although challenged by the rise of fuji music, he defended Juju, introducing his style, Peperempe. His significant contributions and extensive discography secured his place in African music history, even if his international presence diminished.

    Paul Matavire was a talented musician and songwriter from Zimbabwe who wrote humorous and thought-provoking Shona lyrics that captivated audiences. He fearlessly addressed societal issues, including matters of religion and marital problems. His controversial hit, "Dhiyabhorosi Nyoka," gained fame for its commentary on women's roles. Despite facing challenges, such as a one-year incarceration on rape charges, Matavire released 13 albums and coined phrases that are still used in Shona's conversations today. After his semi-retirement, he tended to goats and cattle on a government-awarded farm. Tragically, he passed away at the age of 44 in 2005. However, his legacy endures through his beloved music, which is cherished by Zimbabweans, particularly the youth.

    Somandla Mafia Ndebele is a prominent Zimbabwean sungura star artist whose musical journey was ignited during his high school years when he was a part of the school choir. In 1986, he had a fateful encounter with the late renowned sungura musician John Chibadura, who served as a source of inspiration and encouraged him to pursue a full-time career in music. In 1998, he recorded his single "Mandiomesera," a song he created while still in high school and also collaborated with Tongai Moyo to release a joint album titled 'Mwoyo Wekurera,' a project that catapulted him to fame in 1999. The album received widespread acclaim and garnered significant sales, firmly establishing Ndebele as a respected figure in the Zimbabwean music scene.
