Bio
Richard Kaweesa is a Ugandan singer, producer, and civic thinker whose work bridges music, advocacy, and national identity. He rose from Entebbe, joining the African Children’s Choir at 10 and later forming Revival Flames. His breakthrough came through songs like “Yakere,” “Hakuna Matata,” and “Ssemusajja Agenda.” With his Spirit of Africa ensemble, he delivered Uganda’s 50th Jubilee anthem “Yoga Yoga” and the 17-track Tusonge album, both rooted in unity and self-determination. Beyond music, he’s consulted for The Last King of Scotland and co-founded civic initiatives like the Anti-Counterfeit Network and City Yange. In 2019, he sued President Museveni over “Another Rap.” Whether through sound or strategy, Kaweesa remains a compelling force in reshaping Uganda’s cultural and civic conversations.
