Deo Kiggundu, known professionally as Sabonyaza (Luganda for “top singer”), is a Ugandan gospel artist and music educator whose journey is rooted in quiet resilience. Raised by his grandmother after his mother left, he supported his education by selling firewood and bananas—experiences that later shaped his emotive, faith-driven sound. He earned the nickname Sabonyaza after a standout live performance in Kampala. Blending gospel themes with traditional Ugandan instrumentation, his music reflects cultural pride and personal strength. As a music trainer, he mentors young talents, sharing his passion for gospel and education. By 2025, he had released six albums, including Banyinaze Mifube, which features notable tracks like “Omusango Gwa Maama,” “Ekitta Amaka,” and “Abaami Munyiye.” Through every song, Deo plants seeds of hope, inspiring others with his message of perseverance and purpose.
