Sade Adu (born Helen Folasade Adu) is a British-Nigerian singer, songwriter, and actress. She rose to fame in the 1980s as the lead vocalist of the band Sade, which released several successful albums over the course of the decade, including "Diamond Life" (1984), "Promise" (1985), and "Stronger Than Pride" (1988). Sade Adu's smooth, soulful voice and sophisticated, jazz-influenced sound made her one of the most popular and critically acclaimed artists of the era.
