Sali Sidibé was a renowned female Malian singer and songwriter in the Wassoulou style of music. Her music, which was performed in the Bambara language, tackled contemporary issues and was a mix of traditional and modern elements, including the use of the didadi rhythm. Despite opposition from her family, she began her music career in the 1980s and released her hit album "Wassoulou Foli" in 1993. Sali was known for her gutsy, neo-traditional vocals. She passed away in 2019.
