Sally Nyolo was born in the Cameroonian district of Lekié, emigrated to Paris at the age of 13, and has lived there ever since. Nyolo began her professional career in 1982 as a backup singer for various French and African singers before joining the Acappella group Zap Mama in 1993 on a global tour. She received her big break in music in 1996 with the release of her solo album, "Tribu," which at the time sold about 300,000 copies.
