Bio
Seckou Keita, the "Hendrix of Kora" from Senegal, is a renowned kora player and drummer. His musical journey began in 1996 under his uncle's tutelage. In 2002, he contributed to Kora music by creating original Kora tunings, before he later formed the Seckou Keita Quartet in 2004. Recognized for ingenious tunings and virtuosity, he has mesmerized audiences globally, both as a solo artist and with his groundbreaking quintet. With 11 albums as a leader and co-leader, Seckou has earned numerous awards, including three Songlines Music Awards and BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. In 2023, he released "African Rhapsodies," a 10-track album that masterfully blends Kora with orchestral arrangements.
