Kamogelo Shakoane, known professionally as Shakes, is a South African musician, producer, and DJ best known as one half of the Amapiano duo Shakes & Les. Raised in KaBokweni, Mpumalanga, he began his musical journey playing instruments in church, influenced by family and local rhythms.
In 2021, Shakes teamed up with Sihle “Les” Lukhele, forming a duo that quickly rose in South Africa’s Amapiano scene. Their early tracks, including Funk 99 and Funk 55, showcased Shakes’ production skills and collaborative approach, featuring artists like DBN Gogo and Ceeka RSA.
The duo’s debut album, "Mkhaya" (2024), topped South African charts and achieved wide streaming success, reinforcing their influence in Amapiano. Shakes has also co-produced with major names like Kabza De Small and Uncle Waffles, cementing his status as a key figure in contemporary South African music.
