Robert Baguma Baijukya, professionally known as Shanks Gumaras (aka Shanks Vivi D or Junior Shanks), is a pioneering Ugandan dancehall artist whose fusion of Luganda and Jamaican patois shaped the sound of icons like Bobi Wine and Chameleone. Born in 1973 in Kizibu, he was the youngest of ten children. He attended Namilyango College, where his talent for dance stood out, but left school in 1992 after losing his father. Shanks rose to fame in the 1990s with hits like "Bundu" and "Kakokolo," and also worked as a Capital FM presenter. In 2000, he relocated to the UK, produced "Mujaguzo," and later overcame cannabis dependence. After a spiritual rebirth in 2003, he returned to Uganda in 2008 and released "Kisambi" and "Yeshua 2020." Through Amashanka Music and Urban Lyfe Productions, he has mentored artists like José Chameleone.
