Celebrated across Africa for her silky vocal tone and candid lyrical style, Shekhinah Thandi Donnell has redefined modern South Africa music. She first captured public interest during a 2012 stint on Idols South Africa, finishing in the Top 6. Instead of chasing immediate stardom, she anchored her ambition by earning an arts degree in Live Performance from AFDA.
Her deliberate approach yielded swift returns through explosive radio collaborations, notably "Back to the Beach" and Black Coffee’s "Your Eyes." Signing with Sony Music Africa led to her breakthrough 2017 solo single "Suited," which paved the path for her multi-platinum debut project, Rose Gold. The album swept major accolades at the 2018 South African Music Awards, earning her Album, Female Artist, and Newcomer of the Year. Today, Shekhinah remains an essential, innovative voice in contemporary African music.
