Shimita El Diego, originally known as Lukombo Nzambe, is a celebrated singer-composer from the Congo. He drew deep inspiration from African musical legends like Tabu Ley Rochereau and Joseph Kabasele and made his mark in the 1980s by collaborating with influential Zairean bands during the early days of soukous music. A pivotal figure in the soukous movement, Shimita gained immense popularity as a member of Le Grand Zaiko and as a co-founder of the Soukous Stars. His exceptional vocal abilities are showcased in the renowned soukous hit "Lagos Night".
