Simon Base Kalema, also known as Symon or SBK, is a Ugandan entertainer whose talents span music, film, comedy, and graphic production. Raised in a religious home and inspired by his father, a guitarist with Afrigo Band, Kalema overcame personal loss to find purpose in the arts.
He began his music career in 1991 at Makerere College, co-founding the group Perfect Generation, which gained attention with the hit “Kakokolo.” Following the group’s split, he pursued a solo career, releasing the successful single “Mukwano Muzibu” and collaborating with notable artists like Ragga Dee, RS Elvis, Peter Sematimba, Roger Mugisha, and Rasta Rob.
In the 2000s, Kalema ventured into acting and comedy, joining The Ebonies and Fun Factory. His performances earned him the UCC Uganda Film Festival Best Supporting Actor Award (2018) and the IKON Best Actor Award (2024).
He has also contributed significantly to graphic production, particularly during his time with The Ebonies Management.
