Bio
Sipho Makhabane is a legendary South African gospel singer, producer, and businessman, widely known as "The Big Fish." Born in Mpumalanga, his journey is a remarkable story of overcoming poverty. After his father passed away, he was forced to drop out of primary school to work as a construction laborer, which fueled his passion for gospel music. His debut hits, "Ngitinikela Kuwe" and "Yek Intokozo," took the industry, leading to a string of classic albums like “Calvary” and “Moya Wami.” Beyond his own music, he earned his nickname for his massive influence as a developer of talent. Through his label, Big Fish Music, he mentored and produced many of South Africa's gospel giants, including Hlengiwe Mhlaba and the Ncandweni Christ Ambassadors. Despite a brief retirement in 2010 to focus on artist development, he remains a cornerstone of the industry, recently celebrating his resilience after surviving a near-fatal car accident in 2014.
