Skepta, born Joseph Olaitan Adenuga Jr., is a British-Nigerian rapper, producer, DJ, and creative artist whose work has been central to the growth of grime music.
He began as a DJ with Meridian Crew before transitioning into MCing and briefly joining Roll Deep. In 2005–2006, he co-founded the influential grime collective and label 'Boy Better Know' with his brother Jme, helping push independent UK rap forward. His early albums ("Greatest Hits," "Microphone Champion," "Doin’ It Again" built his reputation in grime.
His global breakthrough came with "Konnichiwa" in 2016, featuring “Shutdown” and “That’s Not Me,” which won the Mercury Prize and elevated grime internationally. He later expanded his reach with "Ignorance Is Bliss" and collaborations like “Praise the Lord” with A$AP Rocky.
