BioSolo Cissokho was a Senegalese kora player, performer, storyteller, and praise singer.
Raised in a family where the ancient tradition of Kora playing has been lovingly passed down for over seven centuries, Solo's journey with this remarkable instrument began at the tender age of seven.
He started his musical career by crafting his own Kora, a testament to his deep connection with the instrument.
In 1998, he joined forces with Frisell Elika to establish the Ellika and Solo ensemble, a musical collaboration that continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
In 2002, the world recognized his mastery, awarding him the BBC World Music Award for Boundary Crossing.
Sadly, in 2019 Solo Cissokho passed away at age 56.
