Souad Massi is an Algerian singer-songwriter, guitarist, and activist. The very young impressionable Souad found her love for music from her brother who played the piano. She also got inspiration from old American cowboy movies' soundtrack. Later, she joined a politically-inclined heavy rock-themed band. As a result she was a target for persecution and even death threat in her home country. At the point, Spouad that she's had enough and decided to leave music for good, she got signed on by Island Records.
