Austin Iornongu Iwar, professionally known as Tay Iwar, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, record producer, sound engineer, and composer. Raised between Lagos and Abuja, he began making music in his early teens, learning production and songwriting through self-taught practice and early exposure to instruments like piano and guitar. He comes from a musically active family, with brothers Suté Iwar and Terna Iwar, and together they helped form the BANTU Collective, an early creative foundation for his development.
He first gained attention with the "Passport" mixtape in 2014, followed by "Renascentia" in 2016, before achieving wider recognition with "Gemini" in 2019, released through Soulection.
Over time, he has expanded into songwriting and production for major artists, including Wizkid and Burna Boy, contributing to global projects such as "Made in Lagos (Deluxe)" and film soundtracks, while maintaining a reputation for understated but influential contributions to contemporary African music.
