BioTeddy Kalanda Harrison, is a prominent Kenyan musician who gained international recognition for his musical exploits.
In 1972, he founded the music group Them Mushrooms, recording over fifteen albums in their Nairobi studio.
Harrison is also the owner of Big Matata Productions, a record company committed to raising funds for the charity Oxfam America.
He composed the popular Swahili song "Jambo Bwana" in 1980 and recorded it with Them Mushrooms. The song sold over 200,000 copies between 1982 and 1987, earning platinum certification in Kenya.
Harrison's contribution to music has had a lasting impact, with his compositions influencing other artists, including Elton John, who composed a song with a similar title to Harrison's "Hakuna Matata" for The Lion King.
