Themba Mkhize is a versatile South African jazz pianist, composer, producer, arranger, musical director, and businessman. Introduced to music at a young age, he began piano lessons at 7, initially in the classical genre. However, his musical journey took a turn towards jazz during high school. Notably, he caught the attention of the local band "Dukes Combo" and began his professional career in 1981 with the band Sakhile. Throughout the years, Themba Mkhize has graced the stage with various South African and international artists, leaving an indelible mark on the jazz scene. His contributions also extend to playing with renowned South African bands like Bayethe and Sakhile. In a delightful twist, Mkhize's son, Afrika, has also established himself as a well-respected pianist.
