Bio
Tony Schilder was a South African jazz pianist, composer, and bandleader from a family of musicians. Remarkably, he mastered the piano by age 11 without any formal training. He is revered as the pioneer of Cape Jazz, gaining prominence as the leader of his jazz trio. His talents shone as the resident bandleader at Club Montreal in Manenberg. Notably, Schilder's focus leaned towards live performances rather than recording. However, he did produce two solo albums under Mountain Records, which showed his musical prowess. Tony Schilder's legacy in South African jazz endures even after his death.
