Tyla Laura Seethal, known as Tyla, is a Grammy Award-winning South African social media sensation, composer, and singer based in Johannesburg. After graduating high school in 2019, Tyla gained widespread recognition in 2020 with her debut single "Getting Late," featuring Kooldrink, which secured her a record deal with Epic Records in 2021. Her international breakthrough came in 2023 with the widely successful single "Water," making her the first South African soloist in 55 years to enter the US Billboard Hot 100. The song not only secured her a nomination for "International Song" at the BRIT Awards, but also earned her a Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance in 2024.
