Jake SolloNigeria |1908| IgboNkem Okonkwo, better known as Jake Sollo, was a talented Nigerian rhythm guitarist and record producer who made a lasting impact on the music scene throughout the 1960s and 1980s.
His musical journey started with The Hykkers amidst the Biafran civil war, and he later rose to prominence with The Funkees, achieving acclaim in Nigeria and England.
However, creative tensions led to The Funkees' disbandment in 1976, followed by a brief stint with Osibisa before financial disagreements prompted his departure in 1977.
Sollo's career flourished in London as a session musician and producer before he returned to Nigeria, where he became highly sought-after by major record labels. Tragically, his promising career was cut short by a fatal car accident in 1985.
