BioGeorges Kiamuangana Mateta, better known as Verckys, was a Congolese music legend whose life was a symphony of talent, innovation, and cultural influence.
As a saxophonist, composer, bandleader, producer, and record label founder, he became one of the most influential figures in African music, particularly in the Congolese rumba and soukous genres.
In the 1960s, he began his musical career as a saxophonist with the prolific rhumba band TPOK Jazz, led by François Luambo Makiadi. In 1969, he left the band and formed his own band, Orchestre Vévé.
Throughout his career, Verckys produced numerous hits, and his music not only entertained but also carried powerful social and political messages.
Sadly Verckys passed away in 2022, leaving behind a rich legacy of music and innovation
