Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, professionally known as Wizkid, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter from Lagos whose career has helped carry Afrobeats into the international mainstream. He began recording music at age 11 and developed his early career within Lagos before signing with Empire Mates Entertainment in 2009. His debut album, "Superstar" (2011), established him nationally through songs including “Holla at Your Boy” and “Don’t Dull.” "Ayo" (2014) followed, with “Ojuelegba” becoming an important record in his growing international profile.
Wizkid reached a wider audience through Drake’s “One Dance” in 2016 and expanded his international catalogue with "Sounds from the Other Side" (2017).
His 2020 album, "Made in Lagos," produced “Essence” featuring Tems, which became his signature global hit and received a Grammy nomination. Wizkid won his first Grammy for “Brown Skin Girl” in 2021. He subsequently released "More Love, Less Ego" (2022), "Morayo" (2024), and "REAL, Vol. 1" with Asake in 2026.
