Martin Nkoyoyo, popularly known as Yoyo, is a versatile Ugandan artist whose work spans music, film, and entrepreneurship. Born on December 17, 1979, in Buikwe District, he grew up in a church-centered home, where his mother’s soprano voice inspired his early love for music. Educated at Makerere University with a Bachelor of Arts in Art, Yoyo developed a sound rooted in old-school R&B and hip-hop soul.
He is best known for songs like Tele, Sirika, Ansaana featuring Priscilla Kalibala, Mata, and Nzewe, blending soulful storytelling with contemporary rhythms. Contrary to public belief, he is the nephew not son of the late Archbishop Livingstone Mpalanyi Nkoyoyo. Beyond music, Yoyo has acted, written scripts, and produced content, notably portraying Benefits in the Ugandan TV series Prestige.
Even after stepping back from the spotlight, he remains engaged with fans through social media, continuing to influence Uganda’s creative scene with his music, acting, and entrepreneurial ventures.
