Bio
Zara Moussa, known as ZM, is a Nigerien singer and rapper who began by covering songs from established artists and collaborating with Niamey's Wiza Orchestra. In a significant milestone in 2002, she emerged victorious in a rap contest organized by the French Embassy with her track "Femme Objet." This achievement marked her as the first female rapper from West Africa to secure a record deal, paving the way for her debut album "Kirari" in 2005. Remarkably, "Kirari" was not only her first self-produced work, but also the inaugural solo rap album by a female artist in West Africa. Her distinctive style seamlessly blends hip-hop with various African influences, communicating with her audience in French, Djerma, or Haoussa while addressing social and political issues.
