BioAbbilona: A Premier Yoruba Music Ensemble is a celebrated Cuban music collective, renowned for its deep exploration of the percussive, choral, and spiritual sounds of Havana's secretive Santeria rituals. Led by master Batá drummer and Babalawo Irian Lopez, the group comprises 30 percussionists and singers who preserve and advance the Afro-Cuban musical heritage. Lopez, a pivotal figure in Havana's folkloric music, and his brothers developed the distinctive Rumba style, Guarapachangueo. Abbilona's influence has attracted global percussionists who seek to study their complex polyrhythms and connect with the Santeria community. Their 2015 album "Masters of Batá", recorded in Havana, features a talented lineup of percussionists showcasing the sacred Batá drums and while honoring the Orishas.
