BioAkwassa, was a notable Afro-funk band from Nigeria, recognized for their exceptional musical talents. Its founding members were Felix Odey (guitar and vocals) and Kevin Coburn (organ, synthesizer, and vocals). Others include Eddy Offeyi, Joe Castro, and Ricky West.
In 1975, Akwassa made waves with their debut album "La'ila," establishing themselves as one of the pioneer Nigerian Funk bands to successfully produce an album. They followed this feat by releasing two more albums to their credit.
For the album "La'ila," Akwassa employed the use of synthesizers, resulting in a raw and unpolished quality yet pleasing to the ears. It was this characteristic that rendered the album one of the best in the genre.
