BioAmersham is a South African pop rock band formed in Johannesburg in the late 1990’s by Adam Lomas and Nathan Waywell. They gained national attention in 1994 with “Dreams of Me,” a Top 10 hit on 5FM. The lineup of Lomas, Waywell, Tim Trotter and Marc Bentel became known for witty, high energy performances and albums like Wearing Thin (1997) and 12 Songs (2000). After disbanding in 2000, members pursued solo projects until a 2020 reunion reignited their chemistry. Signed to Gallo Records, Amersham released new singles including “Happy Face,” “Cute As a Button,” “Fake” and “Eat, Drink & Remarry,” blending humor with mature themes. Their music, shaped by local pop and 80s rock influences, balances catchy hooks with thoughtful lyrics. Though they never broke internationally, Amersham remains a beloved part of South Africa’s rock history, praised for their fun, authenticity and longevity across generations of listeners.
