BioThe Danish Radio Big Band, also known as DR Big Band or Radioens Big Band and more recently, DR Big Bandet, is a professional jazz orchestra based in Copenhagen, Denmark, founded in 1964 and a part of the Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR). Known for its versatility and innovation, the band has collaborated with leading jazz musicians, including Duke Ellington and Count Basie. It has also performed music from other genres and worked with artists like Sting and Paul McCartney. The DR Big Band has received multiple awards, including the Nordic Council Music Prize in 2009 and the Danish Music Award for Best Jazz Album in 2016. The band continues to be a major force in the Danish and international jazz scene.
