BioDieu-Dieu de Thiès is a Senegalese band formed in 1979 in Thiès, Senegal, by former members of Ouza et Ses Ouzettes. They officially started in 1980 and swiftly gained popularity in Thiès at venues like the Gorom and the Gandiol Club. Founding members included Pape Seck (guitar), Cheikh Ndiaye (drums), Ibou Diallo (bass), Doudou Leo (rhythm guitar), El Hadji Diouf (percussion), El Hadji Ngom (percussion), Gora Mbaye (vocal), and the youngest member, Bassirou Sarr (vocal). After touring Gambia and meeting Assane Camara (vocal), they returned to Thiès. With three talented vocalists and guitarist Pape Seck, they blended Senegal's traditional rhythms with fuzz guitars, horn sections, and percussion, creating a unique Afro-manding and Afro-Jazz fusion. Achieving success in Thiès and Dakar, they disbanded after four years but reemerged with rediscovered recordings in 2013. Reuniting with young musicians, they preserved their unique sound, performed globally, and prepared new compositions in 2018.
