BioNairobi-based Gidi Gidi Maji Maji is a Kenyan hip-hop duo comprising Julius Owino (Maji Maji) and Joseph Ogidi (Gidi Gidi). Their music predominantly features the Luo language, blended with English and Swahili, setting them apart from local hip-hop artists. Their debut album, "Ismarwa," debuted in June 2000, produced by Tedd Josiah. In 2002, they released "Unbwogable," their most significant hit, which became the anthem for Mwai Kibaki's presidential campaign. They later signed with the South African Gallo Record Company, releasing "Many Faces" in 2003 and earning accolades at the 2003 Kisima Music Awards. Following international tours, the duo took a break in 2009 due to other commitments. Their track "Ting Badi Malo" was featured on the "Rough Guide to the Music of Kenya" compilation CD in 2004.
