BioHi-5 is a well-known boy band hailing from Pretoria, South Africa, recognized for their music predominantly in Afrikaans. Founded in 2003 by Niel Schoombee, the band participated in and won the Crescendo annual music contest organized by ATKV, a significant event in the Afrikaans music scene. Following this, they released a 5-track EP titled Soebat in 2003 and two studio albums, "Hi-5" and "Versoeking." The album "Versoeking," an Afrikaans cover of Arash's "Temptation," received widespread acclaim on the South African music charts, alongside their recordings of Afrikaans covers of Eurovision Song Contest entries. Hi-5 also achieved some international recognition when they performed at Sonamor resort in Majorca, Spain, in April 2007, and showcased Afrikaans music in other parts of Europe.
