BioJuluka was a South African band founded in 1969 by Johnny Clegg and Sipho Mchunu. Their music was a fusion of traditional Zulu music and Western rock, which became popular both in South Africa and internationally.
Juluka's songs tackled social injustice and inequality, reflecting the political climate of apartheid South Africa. The band's live performances were known for their high energy and powerful message. Juluka released several successful albums, including "Universal Men," "African Litany," and "Scatterlings."
Mchunu left the band in 1985, and Clegg continued as a solo artist, but Juluka's influence on South African music and culture remains significant. Their music helped to bridge cultural divides and promote greater understanding of African culture globally, cementing their place as a groundbreaking band that challenged the status quo.
