BioKekele was a Congolese music ensemble founded in the late 1990s, reviving the golden age of Congolese rumba. The band aimed to preserve the traditional sounds and rhythms that had shaped the nation's musical heritage. Comprising gifted musicians like Nyboma Mwan'dido, Loko Massengo, Bumba Massa, and more, the band embarked on a musical journey to honor and preserve the traditional sounds of their nation. With a repertoire deeply rooted in the golden era of Congolese music (1950s–1970s), Kekele crafted a distinct fusion of Lingala and Rhumba. Their soulful performances and albums, such as "Released: 2001," have the dedication to authenticity captured hearts globally, transcending generational and cultural boundaries. Kekele's artistry paid homage to the luminaries of Congolese music while showcasing the rich musical heritage of the Democratic Republic of Congo, solidifying their position as prominent torchbearers of this vibrant tradition.
