BioMalaika is a multi-award-winning South African pop music group renowned for their unique blend of post-mbaqanga, post-kwaito, and neo-soul music. The group consists of three exceptionally talented musicians and singers, namely Bongani Nchanga, Jabulani Ndaba (deceased), and Matshediso Mholo. In 2005, Malaika's debut album went multi-platinum, setting an unprecedented record in the South African pop music industry. Their second album also received widespread acclaim, and they have amassed a massive following in Southern Africa. Malaika's music is a perfect fusion of soulful melodies, harmonious vocals, and exceptional musicianship, making them the epitome of Nu Afro-pop. They have seamlessly incorporated English into the mix of black South African pop music, making their music accessible to audiences worldwide. After the death of Jabulani in 2008, Mholo and Nchang continued for a short while before splitting and pursuing solo careers. The duo re-united after a decade apart in 2019.
