BioMusi-O-Tunya is one of the pioneering Zambian rock band founded by legendary musician Rikki Ililonga, formerly of Dr. Footswitch. The band’s name, taken from the Tonga language, means “the smoke that thunders”—a reference to the majestic Victoria Falls and also the name of a popular Zambian beer. Drawing influence from Afrobeat in Eastern Nigeria, South African bands, and iconic rock acts from Europe and America, Musi-O-Tunya became one of the first Zambian groups to record music. Their debut album Wings of Africa was released around the same time as WITCH’s Introduction and In The Past, placing them firmly at the heart of the Zamrock movement. .
