BioFormed in 2019 in Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa, Native Soul is an Amapiano genre electronic producers' duo consisting of Kgothatso Tshabalala and Zakhele Mhlanga, also known as DJ Zakes. Both born after the year 2000 belong to the "ma2000" generation, having never experienced Apartheid. Introduced by a cousin in 2016, Native Soul was officially established in 2019. Before this collaboration, each member explored various music styles, including hip-hop and different forms of house music. With a shared focus on Amapiano, they released their debut album, "Teenage Dreams," in September 2021, globally distributed by the Awesome Tapes from Africa record label.
