BioNaughty by Nature is an American hip-hop trio formed in East Orange, New Jersey, in 1986. The group consists of Anthony “Treach” Criss, Vincent “Vin Rock” Brown, and Keir “DJ Kay Gee” Gist. Originally performing as The New Style, they released Independent Leaders in 1989 before gaining wider attention through Queen Latifah, who helped them secure a deal with Tommy Boy Records. Their breakthrough came with Naughty by Nature (1991) and the hit “O.P.P.”
The group achieved major international success with 19 Naughty III (1993) and the anthem “Hip Hop Hooray.” Their album Poverty’s Paradise (1995), featuring “Feel Me Flow,” won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. Known for combining East Coast lyricism with accessible hooks, they also released “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright (Ghetto Bastard)” and “Uptown Anthem.” Naughty by Nature remains active through touring, live performances, and hip-hop heritage projects.
