BioFounded in 2006 by Albert Serebo Ayeh-Hanson (known as Ball J) and Cyril Yankah (known as Shao-Qan), Nu Afrika is a landmark Ghanaian record label and hip-hop collective. Based in Accra, the label was established with the mission of elevating GH Rap—English-based hip-hop made in Ghana—to the international stage. Nu Afrika gained early fame for its pioneering Hip Hop Cyphers, which showcased both underground and veteran lyricists. The label’s signature production tag, "Take Y'all To Nu Afrika," became a hallmark of quality across West Africa. As a central engine of the Ghanaian music scene, the label has produced or managed major hits for artists like Sarkodie, Guru, and Kwaw Kese, including the viral anthem "Lapaz Toyota." Beyond music production, Nu Afrika expanded into a multifaceted media house, managing video editing via 36 Men and hosting influential radio platforms like Rap360, cementing its legacy as a cornerstone of modern African urban culture.
