BioThe Ogyatanaa Show Band, also known as the Burning Fire Show Band, was a celebrated funky highlife group that emerged in Ghana during the 1970s. The band was founded in 1971 by Kwadwo Donkoh, a former diplomat who turned to composing, arranging, and producing music. Together with guitarist Nana Ofori-Atta and other members, the band produced a hit single called "Yaa Amponsah" which was followed by a series of other popular singles. Their debut album "African Fire Yerefrefre" was finally released in 1975 and included an unprecedented extended highlife medley of over twenty minutes that revisited highlife classics of the past, referencing material by giants such as E.T. Mensah and C.K. Mann. The album showcased the band's talent for rousing melodies and complex propulsive rhythms that made them a popular highlife group in Ghana.
