BioOmo Alagba, based in Seattle, is an Afro-Cuban music ensemble dedicated to preserving and performing traditional Lukumi (Yoruba-derived) spiritual music, with a focus on Oro Cantado, a sacred song cycle central to Orisha worship. Led by Steven Cherena, a Santero Olorisa of Elegba, Olu Aña, and Osanyin, the group brings a deep connection to the Santería/Lucumí community. Their notable album "Iyaranla (Oro Cantado)," released on May 23, 2013, was funded by the Seattle Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs and produced by Chaz Mortimer of Ibori Records. Omo Alagba’s music is both a spiritual practice and a cultural bridge, reconnecting diasporic communities to their Yoruba heritage. Their performances during Bembes and Tambors honor the Orishas, and their mission preserves a rich musical and religious legacy. In 2013, they performed at the 10th International Congress of Orisa Culture in Ile-Ife, Nigeria, demonstrating their connection to Yoruba roots.
