BioOverthrust is a four-man death metal band from Ghanzi, Botswana, founded in 2008. The group features vocalist/bassist Tshomarelo Mosaka (Vulture Thrust), lead guitarist Shalton Monnawadikgang (Spencer Thrust), rhythm guitarist Godwill Gabatlwaelwe (Zehst Thrust), and drummer Balatedi Folai (Beast Thrust). Drawing influence from legendary death metal bands like Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, and Morbid Angel, their old-school death metal sound revolves around themes of death and purgatory. Their debut full-length album, "Desecrated Deeds to Decease," dropped in 2015, followed by "Suicide Torment" (2019). Overthrust has played at global festivals like Wacken Open Air (2016) in Germany and toured across Africa and Europe.
They also organize Winter Metal Mania Fest, a charity event benefiting disadvantaged children. In 2021, they were nominated for 'Breakthrough African Band' at the Global Metal Apocalypse awards. With their distinct cowboy-metal head aesthetic and relentless energy, Overthrust continues to prove that African metal has a place on the world stage.
