BioQkumba Zoo was a South African dance duo formed in Johannesburg in 1994 by Owl and Levannah, who had just their keyboard and bold aspirations for the future. Initially known as Ocean Road, they morphed into Qkumba Zoo in 1995 and welcomed Tziki, a third member, to the group in 1996. Their debut album, "Wake Up & Dream" (1996), combined dance, pop, and world music, propelling them to the forefront of South African electronic music. Notable for their vivid performances and diverse musical styles, they won Newcomer of the Year at the 1996 South African Music Awards. Their hit song "The Child (Inside)" topped the charts and reached the Billboard Hot 100. After a hiatus in 2000, they reemerged in 2009 and have occasionally released songs, showcasing their enduring creativity.
