BioRamblers International Band is a popular Ghanaian dance band formed in 1962 as the highlife boom in Ghana instigated by E.T. Mensah continued to spread. Led by tenor saxophonist and arranger Jerry Hansen, the band developed a highly individual style that mixed highlife with soul and Latin material. They featured two lead vocalists singing in close harmony over a lush 15-piece orchestral backing. Throughout the 60s and 70s, the band was one of Ghana's most popular touring and recording groups with large followings in neighboring West African states. The initial line-ups were Aryee Hammond, Eddie Owoo, Charles Kodjo, Jerry Hansen and others. After the boom, most bands went under, but the Ramblers continued playing as a house band at hotels in Accra until 1982. For eight years, the band was inactive. Under the leadership of Jerry Hansen Jr. they released a comeback collection titled "Giants of Dance Band Highlife" in 1991 for the USA label Original Music.
