BioSpell Songs is a collective of folk musicians formed as part of the 2017 Lost Words Project by Robert Macfarlane and Jackie Morris. They released their debut album, "Let the Light In," in July 2019, after being commissioned by the Folk by the Oak Festival, and their second album, "Let the Light In," in December of the same year. Remarkably, the second album reached number 1 on the UK Indie Breakers Chart during that month. The band features talented members, including Karine Polwart, Julie Fowlis, Seckou Keita, Kris Drever, Rachel Newton, Beth Porter, and Jim Molyneux. Their compositions weave together folk, experimental rock, classical, and traditional elements, encapsulating the spirit of the lost words and their enchanting essence.
