BioOriginally named the Flying Squad, Splash was a South African band from the Soweto township, established in the 1980s under the leadership of Dan Tshanda. The band's lineup included Dan Tshanda, Albert Mthimkulu, Patrick Mthimkhulu, Penwell Kunene, Peter Leotlela, and Joseph Tshimange. Although their debut album, "MR Tony," released in 1985 with Gallo Records, failed to gain traction, with a renewed opportunity from Gallo Records and a rebranding as Splash, the band rose to prominence in the South African music scene. They etched their place in South African music history with iconic albums like "Peacock," "Snake," "Money," and "Tshokotshoko." Despite their acclaim, sadly, Splash disbanded in 2013.
